Our Name

Our name is homage to and solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement founded in 2014 by Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi and Patrisse Cullors following the death of Trayvon Martin.

Our name is also an acknowledgement that, as mothers of young children, many of us cannot be on the physical frontlines of the movement.  However, we can be on the frontlines of the movement by changing our minds and hearts and molding those of our children.  Our children are the police officers, judges, and educators of tomorrow and we are dedicated to doing the work of dismantling privilege, specifically race-based privilege, through them.
